Elegant design combined with the performance of a new generation of telescopes!
Based on the popular Evostar series with doublet ED refractors, Skywatcher has developed their brand new Evolux ED series. This appeals to ambitious astrophotographers who are looking for a lightweight, high-performance telescope. Of course, with their higher performance levels, the Evolux ED models are also excellent for visual observation.
Evolux telescopes are perfect wide field instruments, ideal for observing and photographing larger sections of the sky. The doublet lens consists of a combination of optical glasses, including low-refractive ED glass elements, and therefore produces sharp stellar images at high contrasts and with non-detectable colour errors. All lens elements are coated with Skywatcher's advanced Metallic High-Transmission Coating (MHTC™), one of the highest quality multi-coatings in its class and enables light transmission of up to 99.5%.
Evolux telescopes are shipped in a foam-lined aluminium case and come with a 2.4” dual-speed rack and pinion focuser and a tube bracket with Vixen-style prism rails. The dew cap can be retracted for easier transportation.
An optional flattener is available for photography. This aid ensures sharp stellar images, even at the corners of the image field, and reduces the focal length, turning the Evolux into a speedy, four-lens corrected lens for astrophotography.
The flattener is a lens that evens out the field, as this is slightly curved by the primary optics. This curvature causes stars that are imaged at the edge of the field of view to be less sharp. The flattener, also called a field flattener, corrects this effect. Astrophotographers can then enjoy images where the stars remain sharp right out to the edge of the exposure. The flattener is installed between the telescope and the camera.
The Reducer (for focal length reduction) is an optical accessory that allows a more favourable aperture ratio. Required exposure times are hence shorter and the optics 'faster'. Also, the field of view increases, so that even larger astronomical objects can be observed or photographed.
Since its introduction, the Star Adventurer has been setting new standards amongst the most lightweight and portable astrophotography mounts. With the Star Adventurer GTi, Skywatcher is taking the next step.
The new Star Adventurer GTi is equipped with a built-in illuminated polarscope for precise orientation. It has a USB interface, an autoguider connector and can be controlled using hand-held controls if desired. Furthermore, a connection socket for DSLR cameras is available, which can be programmed using the Sky-Watcher SynScan Pro app for iOS and Android. To use the mount near the equator, the counterweight shaft can be attached to a second threaded sleeve. Using the integrated WiFi, the mount can be controlled via a smartphone or tablet using the SynScan app.
Further features:
- With its GoTo function and adjustable tracking speeds for the Moon, the Sun and the stars, you have every opportunity to discover and photograph the skies.
- With a load capacity of up to 5kg, the Star Adventurer GTi mount can carry heavy DSLR or mirrorless cameras with telephoto lenses. Combining it with a small refracting telescope and an astro-camera also works very well.
- The mount can hold all telescopes with Vixen-style prism rails.
- Connection to a tripod is achieved using a 3/8” camera thread.
- The mount has a battery compartment but can also be powered by a 12 volt external power source.
The new Star Adventurer GTi is the perfect solution for all astrophotographers who are looking for the ultimate combination of high power and lightweight transportability.
