The LS40THa is a complete telescope for observing the sun in H-alpha, with 40mm aperture (no central obstruction) and 400mm focal length.
The H-alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun, showing protuberances at the sun's edge, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. An Etalon with mechanical tilt-tuning provides <0.7 Angstrom bandwidth.
BF blocking filter: The deflection optics with the eyepiece receiver also accommodate the blocking filter. This filter reduces the brightness of the solar image and is therefore a very important part of the solar telescope, and which must under no circumstances be removed! For purely visual observing, a small blocking filter is sufficient, but for photography a larger one should be selected.
The B1200 blocking filter is well-suited to visual solar observation. Solar photography is also possible with cameras which have a small sensor chip, namely typical planetary cameras. For cameras with medium-sized or large sensors, a telescope with a larger blocking filter should be used so that the sensor will be well illuminated.
