A smart telescope combines a modern telescope with sensor technology in an easy-to-use system.

A Smart Telescope is a telescope that is equipped with a motorised, computer-controlled mount with a built-in camera.

The telescope is controlled wirelessly using a smartphone app. The app displays live images from the telescope camera and allows these images to be stored.

The system comprising an optical instrument and camera that are precisely matched to one another. Software processes the images according to the object selection. This makes operation extremely easy.

The images are immediately available and can be shared or combined.

The control over a WLAN allows the telescope to be operated from a certain distance, for example from the living room, while the telescope is in the garden.

Smart telescopes do not have a classic eyepiece. It is therefore not possible to look at the night sky without the camera. One exception is the Unistellar eVscope 2. This telescope is equipped with a very high quality electronic eyepiece. Thus, a selected object can be observed directly with the telescope with no need for a smartphone.
