Olympus CX33
Comfortable routine microscopy with high throughput
The CX33 series of biological microscopes enables a comfortable seating position - even during long periods of routine observation. The microscope stand is ergonomically designed, and the control knobs are arranged to improve work efficiency. With minimal movement, you can quickly set up a specimen with one hand, while adjusting the focus and operating the stage with the other hand. The microscope also features an optional camera port for digital imaging.
Olympus CX33
Comfortable, High-Throughput Routine Microscopy
CX33 biological microscope enables you to remain comfortable during long periods of routine observation. The microscope frame conforms to your hands, and the location of the control knobs maximizes ergonomics to improve work efficiency. With minimal movement, you can quickly set a specimen with one hand, while adjusting the focus and operating the stage with the other hand. The microscopes can also feature an optional camera port for digital imaging.
Illumination
Retain preferred microscopy conditions with minimal adjustments
Uniform illumination with consistent colour temperature
The CX33 LED illumination provides several advantages, both immediate and over the long-term:
- Daylight conditions: specimens can be observed in their natural colours
- Consistent colour temperature at any brightness: no time is lost making adjustments if the brightness is changed
- A long 60,000-hour lifetime, the level of brightness remains constant throughout
Fixed Köhler illumination for comfortable viewing
Microscopes in the CX33 series feature fixed Köhler illumination, providing you with the right illumination without needing to adjust the condenser.
Ergonomics
Comfortable during extended periods of use
Ergonomically positioned focus drive
The low-positioned focus drive enables you to conduct your observations while keeping your hands and forearms comfortably resting on the desk. The focus stop prevents a specimen from accidentally coming into contact with an objective when working at high magnification.
Ergonomic arrangement of stage and eyepiece
The CX33 series of microscopes offers features that support long hours of use in the laboratory: more comfort and less fatigue thanks to the low-positioned stage and the visibility of the stage from the viewing position, ensuring that specimens can be quickly set up and checked. The low position and easy adjustment of the stage drive ensures the fast and comfortable observations of specimens.
Objectives
Excellent optical performance for distortion-free images
The CX33* series of microscopes can be used with plan achromat objectives, which provide sharp undistorted images over a wide field of view. Specimens can be observed clearly and with even illumination for routine work.
*The CX33 is supplied with specially designed plan achromat objectives.
Further specifications
Smooth changes to magnification
The revolving nosepiece is positioned low, allowing objectives to be easily changed with the user's elbows resting comfortably on the desk. The nosepiece also faces inwards, providing more working space when changing specimens or using immersion oil.
Contrast enhancement with a simple adjustment to the aperture diaphragm
Quickly enhance contrast by reducing the aperture diaphragm size. This technique provides the same, if not better, image compared to aligning the condenser.
The right specimen holder for your observation
There is a wide range of stage accessories available to improve efficiency. When using a specimen mover plate, there’s no need to lock the specimen in the holder. Instead, the holder enables you to easily manoeuvre the slide on the plate. A double specimen holder can hold a large specimen or two standard sized glass slides.
Tube inclination: 30°; Photo tube: 50/50; Eyepieces: 10x/20; Condenser: Abbe rotating condenser NA 1.25 with positions for: brightfield, darkfield (to 40x); Objective revolver: quadruple (standard)
Dimensions (W × D × H): 211mm × 397mm ×430 mm (standard configuration)
Weight: approx. 7kg
Illumination
Maintain Preferred Observation Conditions with Minimal Adjustments
Uniform Illumination with Consistent Color Temperature
The CX33 LED illumination provides several advantages, both immediate and over the long-term:
- Produces daylight conditions so specimens can be viewed with their natural colors
- Consistent color temperature at any brightness, so can avoid spending time making adjustments when you change the brightness
- A long 60,000-hour lifetime with the brightness level remaining stable throughout
Fixed Köhler Illumination for Comfortable Viewing
CX33 microscope provides fixed Köhler illumination, enabling you to achieve the right illumination without adjusting the condenser.
Ergonomy
Remain Comfortable during Extended Usage
Ergonomically Positioned Focus Knob
The low-positioned focusing knob enables you to conduct your observations while keeping your hands and forearms in comfortable positions resting on the desk. When working under high magnification, the focusing stopper prevents a specimen from accidentally hitting an objective.
Ergonomic Stage and Eyepiece Position
CX33 microscope offers features that support you through long hours in the lab:
- Low-positioned stage to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue
- Stage visibility from the eye point position to enable you to smoothly set and check specimens
- Low stage knob that can be controlled with just a light touch, so you can quickly and comfortably view your specimens
Objectives
Excellent Optical Performance for Flat Images
CX33* microscope can be used with plan achromat objectives, which provide clear images with high image flatness over a wide field of view. You can view specimens clearly with even illumination during routine observations.
*The CX33 comes with specially designed plan achromat objectives.
Further Specifications
Smooth Magnification Change
The revolving nosepiece is positioned at a lower height, enabling you to easily change objectives with your elbows resting comfortably on the desk. The nosepiece also faces inward providing a larger working space when changing specimens or adding immersion oil.
Contrast Enhancement with a Simple Aperture Stop Operation
Quickly enhance the contrast by narrowing down the aperture diaphragm. This technique provides the same, if not better, image when adjusting the condenser.
Specimen Holders that Match Your Observation Style
Multiple stage accessories are available to help improve efficiency. When using the specimen holder sheet, there’s no need to pinch the specimen with the holder. Instead, the holder enables you to easily maneuver the slide while it’s on the sheet. The double specimen holder can hold a large specimen or two standard sized glass slides.
