I filtri obiettivo vengono avvitati o inseriti nell’obiettivo dell’ottica, ovvero sul lato rivolto verso l’oggetto osservato.
In particolar modo i filtri solari impediscono l’ingresso nell’ottica delle radiazioni nocive, permettendo così di proteggere lo strumento e di ottenere il metodo più sicuro per attenuare la luce.
I filtri obiettivo sono spesso usati anche come filtri fotografici.
