A veces la óptica de los telescopios se desajusta: durante su constante transporte, los tubos están sometidos a sacudidas que pueden desplazar las lentes ópticas o los espejos y, en casos extremos, estos desajustes pueden traducirse en imágenes borrosas. Por eso existen oculares y láseres especiales para volver a dejar el telescopio correctamente afinado.
