The Orion HDX110 EQ-G mount - an inexpensive alternative to heavy-duty camera mounts
Many astrophotographers experience the same problem - large, heavy OTAs providing high photographic quality, but too heavy to be used on a standard mount. But for a mount with sufficient carrying capacity, the price goes through the roof. Orion offers a solution that offers both high load capacity and an affordable price!
The mount can take loads of up to 50 kg. Even very heavy, large OTAs with around 35cm apertures can be mounted on it and used for great photos. In addition, the mount comes equipped with an excellent GoTo system that can find up to 42,000 objects fully automatically. But it also lets you slew manually without the mount losing its orientation. This great innovation allows you to choose how you want to move to a new object without constantly having to worry about losing the mount's alignment.
Of course, the HDX110 EQ-G employs permanent reduction of the 'periodic screw error' - the so-called PPEC. In this case, the accuracy achieved by PEC - that is the Periodic Error Correction, is also retained for future observing, i.e. it is 'permanent'.
Since this mount was developed especially for astrophotography, of course, in addition to the autoguider port, it also has a SNAP port - allowing you to connect your camera directly to the mount and then control it via the hand control box.
All-in-all, this mount is an ideal choice for all ambitious astrophotographers!
