Leica APO Televid spotting scopes can be transformed into a high quality telephoto lens with the 7-lens optical Leica DSLR adapter. The adapter allows the use of digital and analogue system cameras from all the major manufacturers with APO Televid 82 and APO Televid 65 Leica spotting scopes. With an overall focal length of 800mm (based on the 35mm format) the new camera adapter allows you to take incredibly detailed stunning wildlife photos even from long distances.
The new Leica camera adapter is used by attaching it to the scope in place of the regular eyepiece. It is attached by use of a precision screw connector, which is easy to attach to the multi-use thread on the scope. Connection to the camera is via a standard T2 adapter.
Handling of the Leica camera adapter, which weighs only 230 grams, is straightforward. An additional pivot bearing allows the photographer to easily switch between portrait or landscape format when using the camera. The adapter can then be locked into the format selected by the thumbscrew provided.
The Leica camera adapter is suitable for full-frame sensors, so there is no vignetting seen at the edge of the image. In addition to digital SLR cameras, other interchangeable lens digital system camera systems (EVIL) and SLR cameras can be used - for example the Leica R system. The only requirement is the availability of an appropriate T2 adapter.
