A Barlow lens lets you increase the focal length of your telescope and hence the magnification. The Barlow lens is placed between the telescope and the eyepiece.
The APO Barlow from Teleskop-Service is a useful addition to your accessories and is designed for both photography and observation. The Barlow can be combined with all standard 1.25" eyepieces and is also suitable for high-resolution telescopes such as apochromatic refractors. The Barlow doubles the magnification and the pleasant properties, such as the viewing behavior of the eyepiece, are maintained. The Barlow lens naturally has a screw-in thread on the telescope side for mounted 1.25" filters. Eyepieces are gently fixed in place using a ring clamp (compression ring).
Photography with the TSB2TELE Barlow:
The Barlow lens can be split in two. When the 1.25" adapter is unscrewed, a T2 (M42x0.75) thread is revealed. This turns the Barlow lens into a photographic converter with an extension factor of 2x and very good field sharpness thanks to the 4-element design. This allows, for example, lunar and planetary photography with suitable astro cameras and system cameras.
The advantages of the telecentric design:
A special feature of telecentric Barlows is the parallel light emission. The extension factor is independent of the distance of the eyepiece or the camera, it always remains at 2x. With simple Barlow lenses, the factor changes depending on the distance to the Barlow element. This makes the effective focal length and magnification more calculable. For observation, it is also interesting to note that the telecentric design does not change the properties of the eyepiece itself. The eye relief and viewing behavior remain the same.
