The EQ8 series comprises Skywatcher’s highest-performance models. They can carry optics and accessories weighing up to 50 kilograms. The mount runs very quietly and is equipped with the proven SynScan GoTo control with a V.5 hand control box.
The EQ8 is also available in a further developed version called the EQ8-R. This has an internal cable duct, belt drive - also for the declination axis - and further improvements to the mechanical design.
The EQ8-RH version has a high-resolution Renishaw encoder on the right ascension axis. This eliminates the need for autoguiding for astrophotography.

Skywatcher offers a special tripod for the EQ8 mount. This tripod also allows mobile use of the mount, but this is a two-person job.
If you want to install the mount on a fixed column, you can also simply order the EQ8 without a tripod. The tripod can also be ordered separately later.
