Cooled colour camera with sensitive full-format sensor!
This camera, with a 43-millimeter diagonal sensor, leaves nothing to be desired:
- USB 3.0 for fast and secure data transfer - 5GB allows fast frame rate at full resolution. USB 3.0 also powers the sensor (5V/650mA).
- USB 2.0 hub for additional accessories, such as a filter wheel or auto-guider camera. This is convenient and reduces cable clutter.
- the camera has a two-stage Peltier cooling system which cools the camera sensor to 35°C below ambient temperature - only then are low-noise, long-term exposures of faint nebulae possible. An external power supply (12V/3A) is required for the cooling - 2.1x5.5 socket, centre-positive.
- a 256MB DDR3 cache is built into the camera for smooth, stable data transfer.
- an astronomical camera's sensor should be cooled as well as possible. However, the entrance window in front of the sensor needs a heater to protect it from fogging - of course, this high-quality camera also has such a heater for the entrance window.
- a tilt adapter means the camera sensor is perfectly aligned with the telescope, thus preventing an oblique field of view: The housing's connection plate can be tilted by means of tension and compression screws so that the sensor is correctly aligned with the image plane of the telescope. Images can then be sharply focused right to the corners.
The camera is equipped with an AR protective glass filter. This is transparent to infrared light and so allows the camera to be used in this region of the spectrum. But we recommend an IR cutting filter for normal astrophotography.
