A cooled deep sky camera at a very fair price!
The StarShoot G3 makes astrophotography of faint nebulae and galaxies affordable for those on normal incomes. No other camera in this price range has regulated thermoelectric cooling (Peltier). The cooling lowers the temperature of the camera chip by 10°C below ambient temperature, thus significantly reducing the noise in which the faint structures of nebulae and galaxies would otherwise disappear.
You take single shots with the StarShoot. The camera does not deliver a video stream, unlike 'planetary camera' - StarShoot Solar System - from the same series. The wide range of exposure times lets you take a snapshot of a bright Moon or a faint nebula. The download time for a full-frame image is 2 seconds.
Image acquisition and processing can be carried out using a single software program - Orion Camera Studio software, which can run under Windows XP/Vista/7/8 operating systems. It can be downloaded from the manufacturers, together with all the necessary drivers. The link to this page comes with the camera.
In addition to the 2" and T2 ports, the camera can also be easily connected to the telescope via the included 1.25" nosepiece. The camera comes without an IR filter. See 'Recommended Accessories' for a suitable filter.
In addition, a USB cable and a power cable with a plug for a 'car cigarette lighter' type socket are included in delivery. This plug also allows you to operate the camera using a 'Powertank'.
